DETOX DAY

In spring, I often feel sluggish and tired, and I really want to shake off that feeling.
From an Ayurvedic perspective, a little detox is exactly what you need right now, as it helps relieve and stimulate your digestion and eliminate ama.
Maybe you’d like to try this right away, or perhaps you’ll take the time to do it in the new year.
Here’s how:
MORNING ROUTINE:
Start your day today in a completely relaxed way. Try to get up by 7 a.m. at the latest. Then begin your Ayurvedic morning routine, including oil pulling, tongue scraping, and a large glass of warm water. Then take time for a walk, yoga, or gentle stretching exercises.
Depending on your experience, you’re also welcome to incorporate additional rituals such as journaling, meditation, breathing techniques, or smudging.
FOOD & DRINK:
Drinks: Drink plenty of warm water, herbal tea, or ginger tea in small sips throughout the day
Morning: Warm porridge made with warm water or oat milk, with spices and steamed fruit
Lunch: Kichadi, a dish made with mung beans, rice, and steamed vegetables (you can find the recipe here)
Dinner: A light vegetable soup or broth with steamed vegetables
EVENING ROUTINE:
End your day early and take time for a ritual. You might want to massage your feet with sesame or almond oil, make yourself a cup of tea or a glass of milk to help you sleep, practice a breathing technique, or write down a few lines of gratitude. You should be in bed by 10 p.m.
